Call to Artists

Eligibility: Exhibition is open to all 2D and 3D fine arts media.  

2D Work: All media accepted. Work must be wire-strung, ready to hang (no saw-tooth hangers).  Completed work(s) must be on a standard 12″x12″ canvas or professional board with gallery wrapped or finished edges. Photography or other medium may be framed to a 12″x12″ outside dimension frame.  No staples showing.

3D Work: Pedestal for display may be required, upon request. If you have 3D entries, two of the three dimensions must be 12″, the third dimension can be no more than 12″, but it may be less.

Entry Fees: There is a non-refundable entry fee, for up to 3 pieces – $25 for non AVAA Members; $20 for current AVAA members. Submitting more than one work is encouraged.  Payment via PayPal on the AVAA website ( http://www.avaaonline.org/join-us). Please see drop down menu under AVAA Memberships & Programs and click on “Show Fee (Member or Non Member)”. Or, checks payable to AVAA and mailed by the deadline to Kelli Montgomery, c/o AVAA, 1700 Alcove Ct., Austin TX 78757. Memberships may be renewed by entry deadline.  Fee is due at time of entry submission.

Entry Format: Only digital submissions will be accepted. All images must be in jpeg format (image size under 1MB, please). Entrants may submit images via e-mail tokelli@avaaonline.org. Name all electronic files as follows: lastname__titleofwork.jpeg. Abbreviate as needed on electronic file name, but be sure the entry form has the complete information.

Judging: Artwork will be chosen from submitted entries. Notification will be emailed by November 20, 2014 (by 5 p.m.).

Sales: No commissions are taken on the artwork. Payments to the artists will be made within 10 days after the close of show. Artists are responsible for their own sales tax. Work sold during the exhibition through credit card payment is subject to 5% processing fee (so please factor that into your price). The gallery is open Fridays and Saturdays during the exhibit, 11-6.  Hours may be adjusted on holiday weekend (to be determined).

Delivery: Hand-delivered work will be received at Austin Art Space on Sat. Nov. 22, noon-5 p.m., OR on Saturday, Nov. 29th, 2-5 p.m. (to accommodate those artists who are participating in the East Austin Studio Tour).   If you will be shipping work, please emailkelli@avaaonline.org for shipping information and delivery dates. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs. Pre-paid return shipping label must be included with accepted entry if return shipping is required. (Please note: If you are picking up work from the fall show, you can pick up that work and drop off your 12X12 at the same time)

Return of Artwork: Artists or artist representatives are responsible for picking up their work on Sat. Jan. 3, noon-5 pm.

Art drop off date at Austin Art Space: Sat. Nov. 22, noon-4 p.m., OR on Saturday, Nov. 29th, 2-5 p.m.

Opening Reception Saturday Dec. 6, 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Pick up work: Sat. Jan. 3, noon-5 p.m. If you cannot pick up at this time, please arrange for someone else to handle the pick up for you. We have another show immediate following.
