AVAA presents The Veterans Exhibit

@ Austin Art Space Gallery & Studios

The Austin Visual Arts Association is pleased to present an exhibition featuring art created by US military veterans to honor Veterans Day. The opening event for the show will take place on November 10, 2018 from 6-8 PM and the art will remain on display and for sale from November 12, 2017 (Veterans Day) until December 1, 2018. The exhibition will be at the Austin Art Space Gallery, 7739 Northcross Dr., Suite Q, Austin, TX 78757. Attendance is free. Austin Art Space Gallery hours are Fridays and Saturdays, 11-5 p.m.

Deadline for Entries: 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, 2018

Notification: No later than Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018
Delivery of Works: Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, noon-4 p.m.
Exhibition Dates: November 9 – December 1, 2018
Reception: Saturday, November 10, 2018, 6-8 p.m.
Artwork pick-up: Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, noon-4 p.m.

Call to Artists

Eligibility: Juried Exhibition open to U.S. military veterans in Texas. 2D and 3D fine arts media eligible.

2D Work: Work must be wire-strung, ready to hang (no sawtooth hangers). Unframed paintings must be gallery-wrapped, one & a half inch deep cradle, edges must be clean (i.e., no paint splatters, etc.)

3D Work: AVAA has a limited number of pedestals. A pedestal for display may be required.

Entry Fees: AVAA has waived entry fees for this exhibit for military veterans.

Entry Format: Only digital submissions will be accepted. All images must be in jpeg format (image size under 2MB, please). Please submit images via e-mail to Exhibit Organizer Chris Van Loan: cvanloan99@gmail.com

Name all electronic files as follows: lastname__titleofwork.jpeg. Abbreviate as needed on electronic file name, but be sure the entry form has the complete information.

Judging: Chris Van Loan Sr., US Military veteran and resident artist at the Austin Art Space Gallery will curate the exhibit.

Sales: No commissions are taken on the artwork. Art must remain on display for the duration of the show. Payments to the artists will be made within 15 days after the close of show. Artists are responsible for their own sales tax. Work sold during the exhibition through credit card payment is subject to 3% processing fee (so please factor that into your price).

Delivery: Hand-delivered work will be received at Austin Art Space on Saturday, Nov. 3, noon-4 p.m. If you will be shipping work, please email kelli@avaaonline.org for shipping information and delivery dates. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs. Pre-paid return shipping label must be included with accepted entry if return shipping is required.

Return of Artwork: Artists or artist representatives are responsible for picking up their work on Saturday, Dec. 1, noon-4 pm.
