My name is CVL (Chris Van Loan Sr.) and I am a painter, musician, filmmaker and photographer. Painting is my meditation. A canvas provides a
medium for me to express a day’s troubles and triumphs. Early in my painting career I heard a voice in
my head tell me that I should, “..never be afraid of what the paint may or may not reveal…”. In my purest artistic moments, I follow this advise and intuitively paint what I feel. Music and guitars are also a constant theme for me because of my love of music.

My art has been displayed at Texas State University at the Big Show exhibit.
My art has been displayed at the Austin Art Space gallery for several exhibits

My painting, The Bassist, was used as the logo for the 2016 Austin Bass Workshop that took place at Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX.
I was awarded the 2014 Best Short Documentary Award and 2016 2nd  place Music Video Award at the Capital City (Austin) Black Film Festival.
