AVAA presents The Austin Figurative Show @ Austin Art Space Gallery & Studios
Deadline for Entries: Monday, March 21st, 2016 by midnight
Notification: Friday, March 25th, 2016
Delivery of Works: Saturday, April 2nd, 2016, noon-5 p.m.
Exhibition Dates: Friday, April 9th – Saturday May 7, 2016
Reception: Saturday, April 16th 2016, 6-8 p.m.
Artwork pick-up: Saturday, May 7, 2016, noon-5 p.m.
Call to Artists
Eligibility: Juried exhibition open to all 2D and 3D fine arts media. Theme – artwork exploring the human figure. This exhibition supports the AVAA Life Drawing Program. Works created in AVAA’s weekly life drawing classes encouraged, but not required.
2D Work: All media accepted, except photography. We will have a separate juried photography show later in the year. Work must be wire-strung, ready to hang (no sawtooth hangers). Unframed paintings must be gallery-wrapped, one & a half inch deep cradle, edges must be clean (i.e., no paint splatters, etc.)
3D Work: AVAA has a limited number of pedestals. Therefore, a pedestal for display may be required.
Entry Fees: Non-refundable entry fee, for up to 3 pieces – $25 for non AVAA Members; $20 for current AVAA members. Payment via PayPal on the AVAA website under Join Us (http://www.avaaonline.org/join-us). Please see drop down menu under AVAA Memberships & Programs and click on Entry Fee (Non-AVAA Member) or (AVAA Member). Or, checks payable to AVAA and mailed by the deadline to Kelli Montgomery, c/o AVAA, 1700 Alcove Ct., Austin TX 78757. Memberships may be renewed by entry deadline.
Entry Format: Only digital submissions will be accepted. All images must be in jpeg format (image size under 2MB, please). Please submit images via e-mail to laura.grimes@yahoo.com
Name all electronic files as follows: lastname__titleofwork.jpeg. Abbreviate as needed on electronic file name, but be sure the entry form has the complete information.
Judging: Retired Professor of Art Melissa Grimes will be the juror for his exhibit. Artwork will be chosen from submitted entries. No substitutions will be accepted.
Sales: No commissions are taken on the artwork. Art must remain on display for the duration of the show. Payments to the artists will be made within 15 days after the close of show. Artists are responsible for their own sales tax. Work sold during the exhibition through credit card payment is subject to 5% processing fee (so please factor that into your price). The gallery is open Fridays and Saturdays during the exhibit, 11-6.
Delivery: Hand-delivered work will be received at Austin Art Space on Saturday, April 2nd, noon-5 p.m. If you will be shipping work, please email kelli@avaaonline.org for shipping information and delivery dates. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs. Pre-paid return shipping label must be included with accepted entry if return shipping is required.
Return of Artwork: Artists or artist representatives are responsible for picking up their work on Saturday, May 7, noon-5 pm.
