This year the exhibit encompasses oils, acrylics, pastels, watercolor, mixed media and photography from 46 established and emerging artists from around the state and as far away as Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Paris, France. Many of the 89 pieces selected for display were created specifically for the event. The juror for this year’s show was Bill Keese. Mr. Keese is the President of Austin Visual Arts Association, an art scholar and a lifelong patron and promoter of the arts.
Valerie Walden, the manager of the Austin Art Space collective observed, “The ‘12buy12’ show has traditionally been our most popular exhibit. But, this year is particularly remarkable. It’s the most artists we’ve ever presented at once. And, the variety and quality of the work is striking. It’s a truly professional and entertaining show.”
A preview of all pieces is currently available from the Austin Art Space website. And, a special preview will be held during regular gallery hours on Friday, December 4. All patrons are welcome to attend the Artists’ Reception on Saturday, December 5, 6:00pm-9:00pm with the vast majority of the artists expected to be on hand to discuss their work. The show continues during regular gallery hours throughout the Christmas season, ending on December 21.
The large number of artists and the diversity of their work almost guarantee that patrons can find something that appeals to them. The gallery setting is conducive to appreciating the merits of the individual works of art, and the juried selection process establishes a high standard for inclusion. Historically, hundreds of people attend the reception and exhibit over the three weekends.
Juried works from the following artists are included in the 5th Annual ‘12buy12’ Show. For an exclusive preview of the show, click Preview.
